We have never turned down a wish request because of lack of funds, and take pride in fulfilling a wish for every eligible child.

Background Checks

To assure the safety of our children, we perform a reference check, as well as a criminal background check on on all of our applicants. You must be 21 years or older to volunteer. All information in this application, and any acquired through the background check, remains confidential and is used only for screening and placement purposes.

State policies regarding background checks vary from state to state. We are able to process all background checks for the states of Idaho, Montana and Washington from our office in Seattle. In the state of Alaska, volunteers need to request an "Interested Person Report" at a local State Trooper office. You will need $20 (which the Foundation will reimburse to you, or you may choose to donate) and two pieces of identification. Legal identification includes either:

#1. Government issued ID (driver's license, military ID, etc. with picture and signature)

#2. ID with signature (Debit card, credit card, etc). Birth certificates are not valid for this purpose.

If a blemish appears on a background check it may be reviewed by our management team to determine if acceptance of a volunteer application is in the Foundation's best interest.
